The City of Martensville is providing sponsorship opportunities to local and area companies for the new Aquatic Centre set to open in June 2010. The new Aquatic Centre will be a welcome addition to the recreation base in the community, and will provide a new recreation option for residents as well as fit in with the base of our existing and growing recreation infrastructure. Specific features of the Aquatic Centre will include: - Three water slides - 25 m - 5 lane pool - Concession and Deck areas - Public swimming, swimming lessons, facility rentals - Fully landscaped The City of Martensville is inviting companies to consider a corporate sponsorship for the new Aquatic Centre. Martensville is in the midst of celebrating its 41st anniversary since being incorporated as a town. But, if the Province of Saskatchewan agrees to the town's proposal, it will be the last time the community celebrates another year as a town.
Martensville Town Council introduced and passed a motion Tuesday afternoon, July 21st, to begin the process of having the community declared Saskatchewan's 14th city. If all goes according to plan, the newly elected council on November 3, 2009 will be able to announce that Martensville is the 14th city in the Province of Saskatchewan

Trent Ens, owner of Martensville's Smokehaus Meats and Deli, waved goodbye to 2,500 packages of beef and bison jerky Tuesday, the first step in a journey that will eventually see the product in the hands of soldiers serving in Kandahar province, Afghanistan.
"Lots of the things these guys miss over there we can't do anything about. We can't send their wives and kids over there, we can't build their favourite restaurant over there, we can't send them fresh T-bone steaks and a barbecue, but we could send them beef jerky because it's shelf stable and lightweight."
Ens, who made the jerky with his 12 co-workers during several evenings since March, said he was inspired to send the meat treat to troops stationed overseas after a conversation with one of his customers earlier this year

His experience ranges form working with a Regional Economic Development Authority, municipal/community economic development, marketing manager and property management. Dillon's involvement in the provincial economic development scent extends to serving 5 years with the Saskatchewan Economic Development Association including the role of President.
